Good experience on the crossing. The departure and arrival were on schedule. The cabin was clean and functional. There was a variety of reasonably priced meal / snack options. The only disappointment was lack of Wifi.

Boarding process very straightforward. Ferry was of a reasonable standard and cabin clean and comfortable. Public areas OK. Ran on time.

The negative first: there were no signs to the ferry at all, if it hadn't been for friendly customs and port authority officials I doubt we would have found it. Eventually we got to the office (a portacabin) which was closed, although a shuttle bus (people carrier) was waiting outside. Once we were on board, the journey was absolutely fine, it is a great route and the departure and arrival times really worked for us (much better than Palermo - Naples which we'd explored before). I'd definitely recommend this ferry.

Crossing with car at the end of September. If you are not booking a cabin I suggest to bring with you a blanket: night is cold. The departure was 90 delay because the tracks were not all on board, so it is really useless to go there 2 hours before. 1 hours is more than enough.

Known for its historical relationship with earthquakes, having previously been destroyed by an earthquake in 1169 and again in 1693, the city has also suffered from volcanic eruptions from nearby Mount Etna, the most violent being in 1669. The city is also home to the first university opened in Sicily in 1434, and in the 14th century and on into the Renaissance, Catania was one of Italy's most important centres for culture, the arts and politics.
The city's symbol is u Liotru, or the Fontana dell'Ellefante, which was assembled in 1736 by Giovanni Battista Vaccarini. The symbol shows an ancient lavic stone elephant topped by an Egyptian obelisk from Syene. The city has had a poor relationship with volcanos, having been buried by lava a total of 17 times in recorded history. In layers beneath the present day city are the Roman city that preceded it, and the Greek city before that.
The Italian city of Naples is the largest city in southern Italy and is certainly one of the most beautiful, especially around the Bay of Naples. The city was founded by the Greeks and was later enlarged by the Romans all of which is reflected in the city's rich history and stunning architecture. Located to one side of Naples is Mount Vesuvius, and near to the bay are the picturesque islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida, all of which are located close enough for day trips departing from Naples.
The centre of Naples is quite compact and is full of palaces, spectacular churches, monasteries, convents and castles and is the perfect place to stroll around and marvel at the spectacle. Popular attractions are the Duomo, which is an ancient cathedral that dates back to the late 13th century and early 14th century. Also of interest is the Palazzo Reale, the Teatro San Carlo and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, which is filled with some of the best archaeological exhibits in Italy. Finally, there is the Napoli Sotterranea which is a series of underground tunnels, stairs, rooms and halls that are right in the heart of the city.
