Found in the Nova Scotia province of Canada, on the north-west coast of the region’s main Atlantic Ocean peninsula, is the picturesque fishing town of Digby. It’s a community proud to be considered the ‘Scallop Capital of the World’; a nickname earned by the town’s fleet of trawlers that regularly scour the deep waters of the nearby Bay of Fundy in the hunt for the prized shellfish.

Though famed for its scallops, Digby is also an important gateway for passengers looking to reach the New Brunswick region of Canada. The ferry terminal is a small building sitting on the edge of a rectangular quay to the north of town. It’s a site that can be reached via Shore Road that leads away from downtown Digby and boasts spectacular, sweeping views across the icy-blue waters of the bay. Though driving to the port is easy, public transportation in Digby is minimal and buses do not travel towards the harbour.

Facilities at the terminal are limited to an indoor waiting room, a car-park and a designated bay for taxis travelling to and from town. One passenger line leaves the port at regular intervals throughout the week. A Bay Ferries service sails to the port town of St. John in New Brunswick, a short journey that whisks passengers out from the Annapolis Basin and across the entire width of the Bay of Fundy.
