About Providencia Island

Providencia is a Colombian island 90 kilometres north of San Andres in the Caribbean Sea, found between Costa Rica and Jamaica. Given its isolated location, Providencia is unspoilt by mass tourism and boasts some of the finest diving spots in the world, making it a true Caribbean gem. Visitors will find just a few small cottages and hotels in the tiny villages of Aguadulce and Bahia Suroeste on the west coast. As well as snorkelling in crystalline waters teeming with tropical fish and colourful coral, you can hike along some of the excellent hiking trails within the mountainous interior, too, so there’s plenty to do on this small slice of paradise. The island’s port is situated on the north coast, where ferry routes are provided to the island of San Andres almost every day, operated by a popular local ferry company.

About San Andres Islands

San Andres is a Colombian coral island in the Caribbean Sea, lying approximately 230 kilometres east of Nicaragua. This seahorse-shaped island is the largest of the namesake archipelago, boasting crystalline waters which have been declared a UNESCO Seaflower Biosphere Reserve, which means snorkelers and divers are guaranteed to be surrounded by colourful fish and coral reef with a visibility of around 30 metres. San Andres is also a great spot for fun activities like windsurfing, jet skiing and kite surfing, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The beaches are also scattered with natural rock pools, ideal for children. The island’s port can be found on the northeast coast, where frequent sailings are provided to Cayo Bolivar and Providencia, the other islets in the archipelago, so it couldn’t be easier to enjoy one of Colombia’s most beautiful regions.
