Qeshm Guide

Qeshm Ferry Port

Qeshm is an island found just off the south coast of the Iran, laying in the Strait of Hormuz. The only ferry route departing the port is to Khasab on the north coast of Oman, with the crossing typically lasting around 90 minutes.

What is there to do in Qeshm?

For those who long for a journey into the authentic Middle East, Qeshm is the place to go. In a region that is growing increasingly commercial, Qeshm is rare in its landscape and values; ancient buildings dominate the skyline, locals still don traditional clothing and the food is unashamedly Iranian. The whitewashed houses are refreshing in the exponential growth of modern architecture, and the encompassing valleys, canyons and mountains make the island one of the most beautiful places in the continent. Much of the beauty lies in Qeshm Island’s Geopark; endless greenery decorates the area and walking trails afford wonderful vistas. The park may bring the incredible aesthetics, yet the biggest drawer of Qeshm is the Persian Gulf sea which is famed for its salt content, allowing you to float in the water. The sea is engulfed by red cliffs and towering rock formations, perfect for nature lovers who crave an adventure in exotic surroundings. The sea is ideal for feeling the unusual sensation of floating, but also prime for spotting rare sealife; sea turtles, crabs and pelicans are regularly spotted swimming around the waters.

How do you get around Qeshm?

The length of the island means that it is necessary to use a private driver or taxi to travel between the most notable landmarks. Hotels can often arrange a taxi or driver to take you around the notable sites, or for the more daring, hitchhiking is a viable option with many willing to carry passengers.
