The Spirit of Tasmania I has been an integral part of the operator’s fleet since September 2002 and was part of a major refurbishment in 2015. Donning the company’s iconic red and white livery, this vessel crosses the Bass Strait at speeds of up to 27 knots, delivering travellers the 429km to their destination in a crossing time of between 9 and 11 hours. The capacity of the ship allows up to 1400 passengers as well as 500 standard vehicles. On board, voyagers will be treated to a wide variety of culinary options, cinemas, kids activities, live music, gaming lounges, Wi-Fi connection and a selection of seating areas and cabin options. Your journey between Melbourne and Tasmania will be a breeze with all that’s on offer.
There are 22 cabins and 121 reclining chairs on this Spirit of Tasmania ship. The cabin accommodation is split between 59 twin bed porthole cabins, 72 four bed porthole cabins, 81 inside cabins and 8 deluxe cabins. There is also two wheelchair accessible cabins on the vessel. All cabins have adjustable air conditioning, a power point, reading lights, changing space for clothes, a desk with chair and wall mirror with bedding, towels and soap provided.
If you fancy a bite to eat whilst travelling you’ll get a range of options from tantalising Tasmanian dishes to casual snacks, the finest wines to a coffee or hot chocolate. Whatever your preference, your taste buds are well catered for on Spirit of Tasmania. No matter what time of day you want to eat you’ll be provided for with breakfast, lunch and dinner menus available.
The Pantry, Spirit of Tasmania’s on board shop, offers freshly prepared sandwiches, snacks and breakfast foods if you’re not after a sit down meal. You’ll also find a variety of souvenirs, Tasmanian wines and other gifts to purchase.
Everyone loves a trip to the movies, so why not incorporate it into your ferry crossing. There are two cinemas on the vessel with multiple screenings of the latest film releases and each trip. Wi-Fi connection is available for passengers in all public areas meaning everyone can surf the web whilst surfing the waves. Fancy a flutter? The Admirals Gaming Lounge contains the latest gaming machines for adults to enjoy and maybe even get lucky on. The reading room offers a quiet space for those travellers who want to chill, relax and escape it all whilst at sea.
Both the young and young at heart will have plenty to choose from to keep them entertained whilst travelling between Tasmania and the mainland. Aboard there is a play area for the little ones, an arcade section and two cinemas for the bigger kids. During school holidays there is also daily sailing entertainment on board which includes face painting, circus performers and much more.
