The Spanish city of Valencia lies on the Mediterranean Sea coast in the Valencia region of the country. It is Spain's third largest city, after Madrid and Barcelona, and lies on the banks of the Turia River, on the east coast of the Iberian Peninsular, on the Gulf of Valencia. Adjacent to the cathedral is the Gothic Basilica of the Virgin and the Silk Exchange which was built in an early Valencian Gothic style and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
