The town of Vis is in the north-eastern part of the Island of Vis, southern Croatia, at the bottom of a well protected bay. Vis Town in the northeast and Komiža in the southwest are the two beautiful small towns on the Island of Vis. The whole island was a military area until the beginning of the war (1991-1995) in Croatia, so the island and its towns have only been open to tourists for the last 15 years. Nowadays, with Vis Town welcoming an increasing number of tourists, the lifestyles of the locals in Vis are changing accordingly. However, Vis has somewhat managed to keep its old, irresistible Mediterranean charm and life without stress or troubles. Visitors to Vis are always delighted by the untouched nature it offers. Whether it’s the beautiful secluded places ideal for rest and recreation, the hamlets with few remaining inhabitants, the old stone houses or its numerous vineyards, Vis Town is definitely a fascinating destination which offers an insight to this tiny island.
